Episode 7 - Rena Ou Yang

Writer's picture: Project LanternProject Lantern

This episode does contain discussions surrounding sexual assault and sexual violence more broadly. We encourage any listeners that may feel distressed to please seek out support services such as 1800Respect.

For our seventh episode, we sit down with Rena Ou Yang, co-founder of Empowered Together, a youth-led organisation dedicated to the primary prevention of sexual assault.

Together we discuss the role of education and collaboration in the primary prevention of sexual assault, the legal environment surrounding sexual violence and strategies to challenge negative cultures.

“We always think it is important to work with other people and other organisations … [because] the role that we play is just a tiny piece of the puzzle.”

Show Notes:

If you’re interested in finding out more about the work that Rena does with Empowered Together, please check them out on their website or Facebook.
